Introduction to Digital Photography
• This workshop is for those of you who wish to learn how to use your camera to its fullest potential,
enabling you to take more creative photographs.
• We will discuss different types of digital cameras, the settings & functions found on digital cameras &
how they can be applied to taking digital photographs.
• We will cover ISO, exposure, focus, aperture, shutter speed, resolution, white balance, colour
temperature settings and use of flash .The basic principles of light, composition, basic computer skills,
downloading, emailing images, & editing images on computer.
• The workshop includes theory, practical & feedback sessions
Who should attend: Anyone who is new to digital photography and wants to learn how to take better
photographs in a relaxed and fun environment of a mountain retreat.
What you need: A digital camera, either point & shoot with manual override or a digital SLR. A laptop and
tripod are recommended.
Advanced Digital Photography
• This workshop is for those of you who already know the basics of photography and can operate your
camera. You should have a basic knowledge of shutter speed, aperture and how they are related.
• We will discuss different menus, settings & functions on your camera and how they can be applied
to taking advanced creative photographs
• We will recap on ISO, exposure, focus, aperture, shutter speed, resolution, white balance, colour
temperature settings and use of flash .The basic principles of light, composition
• Then go into much greater detail on lighting, aperture priority, shutter priority and manual, as well
as advanced use of flash
• The workshop includes theory, practical & feedback sessions
Who should attend: Anyone who is very comfortable with digital photography and wants to be more creative and technically advanced. You must have a good understanding of digital photography and know your camera.
What you need: A digital camera with manual override, so that you can shoot in aperture and shutter priority or a digital SLR. A laptop and tripod are recommended.
Landscape and Macro Photography
• This fun and interactive workshop focuses on teaching you about a whole new world that exists when
you go into the world of macro & landscape photography.
• Both the technical and creative side of each type of photography will be discussed.
• We will cover the principles of natural light and flash, & how it can be used to improve your photographs
• The workshop includes theory, practical & feedback sessions.
Who should attend: Those who are familiar with the basics of photography & who want to learn about
landscape & macro photography in an environment with landscape scenes at your fingertips, and macro
subjects at every turn.
What you need: A digital SLR, or a digital point & shoot with manual override & macro functionality.
A laptop and tripod are recommended.
Outdoor photo workshops
• These workshops are for those of you who are very comfortable with your camera and want to
experience a workshop based mainly on practical exercises.
• The workshop will be conducted outdoors and you will be able to ask questions and get advice
while taking photos.
• We cover portrait, macro, landscape and nature photography
• This workshop includes feedback sessions

for you or your group. Subjects that we will cover include, studio lighting focusing on family shots and
portraiture, nature photography covering birds, insects and animals, Digital editing & printing basics on
PC or Mac, using Photoshop CS.
